Not all patients are candidates for stem cell or the fat graft treatment. The treatments offered are not research or a clinical trial. Since the cells are from the patient’s own body there is no risk of rejection.Ī regenerative medicine technique can also be performed with a patient’s own fat taken from the stomach or side and injected into the joints to reduce painful symptoms of osteoarthritis. During the procedure, the physician takes bone marrow cells from the back of a patient’s hip and following minimal on site processing of these cells, they are then injected into the patient’s joint or tendon. Patients may benefit from a unique non-surgical procedure using the patient’s own stem cells and growth factors that may help repair damaged tissue, reduce pain and promote healing. Stem cells can potentially provide trophic support to the injured spinal cord microenvironment by modulating the inflammatory response, increasing vascularization and suppressing cystic change. After the primary injury, microenvironmental changes inhibit axonal regeneration. Spinal cord injury has a complex pathophysiology. "Our patient also reported a strong improvement with his grip and pinch strength, as well as range of motion for shoulder flexion and abduction," Dr. Clinical signs of efficacy in both motor and sensory function were observed at three, six, 12 and 18 months following the stem cell injection. Stem cells were injected nearly a year after his injury and several months after his improvement had plateaued. But that progress plateaued six months after the injury. Not because they were a particularly great or devoted people, just because God chose them. I called my child out of Egypt… like a child being chosen for adoption, God had chosen Israel. Where was God in the story that has ended with the people of God being carried into slavery? THIS is where God was. Hosea’s response to the people struggling to understand how God could have let them slip into suffering, is to bring out the family photo album. Israel’s past, Israel’s present and Israel’s future. He retells their story from a different angle. In the middle of all their self made suffering they shout up to God “Where are you?!” Religiously they had forgotten their God, following the gods of the surrounding nations particularly the Canaanite gods of war and fertility with their destructive devotional practices. This passage is just before the Assyrians would destroy Ephraim’s cities and carry most of the population off to be slaves… things were not looking good. But Assyria didn’t stay weak, eventually they retaliated. With a taste for blood, they had pushed the buttons of their larger neighbour, Assyria, when it was weaker. And they fought… The Northern kingdom had experienced six kings in 25 years. They had internal quarrels and eventually fighting and eventually into a full on civil war. The Jewish people, particularly Ephraim had been too big for their boots. It was written over the 8th Century BC at a time when the Jewish nation had split in two… the North and South, The Northern Kingdom became Ephraim and the Southern became Judah. Our Old Testament passage is written at a time when the Jewish nation had lost their perspective on God. Would it be awkward? Would they cope? I needn’t have worried… within 30 seconds they had done what most parents seem to do when they first meet their future daughter or son in law… they showed Fiona who they were and their perspective on who I am, by bringing out the baby photos! They’re quite conservative so this was the first time I’d brought anyone back to meet them. I thought it was going to work on alternative radio in the UK. ![]() He was learning how to play during the recording! I had absolutely no idea the song would become so big. ![]() The whole band were leaning on his drumming, especially poor Bob on bass, who was a non-musician friend they had dragged in. I couldn’t understand his thick Scottish accent so the others had to translate. They were easy to record, as Paul Thomson is a fantastic drummer. I cleaned up all the instruments and made them very tight with the drums to give the song that mechanical feel. We used Pro Tools editing to fix mistakes. Very few musicians can play well to a click track, and natural tempo changes in a song can be great. We recorded as live as possible, without a click track to keep us in tempo. It was nice to be home but it had also been hard to find a similar studio in the UK for the same money. We recorded at Gula Studion in my home town, Malmö in Sweden, which had a great 1970s console and a big sounding room. I wanted to give listeners the loudness of a live gig. The main thing I added was an aggressive sound. I’d been much more creative when I produced the Cardigans. I think that got me the job of producing them, but I didn’t have to change much. Before working with them, I saw the band live and told them I liked the Talking Heads vibe some songs had and suggested we explore that. Otherwise, Take Me Out was great on the demo and already had the marvellous intro in a different tempo. It was a good hook but I thought it sounded like a bagpipe melody. I don’t remember hating Take Me Out! But I certainly didn’t like the famous guitar riff. Photograph: Tabatha Fireman/Redferns Tore Johansson, producer When we recorded it, Tore Johansson, the producer, hated it and kept asking: “Why are we recording this? The other songs are so much better.”įranz Ferdinand at the Mercury Music awards in 2014. When you come up with a song like that, the dreamer in you is thinking: “One day, we’ll play this in Mexico City.” But the realist thinks, “We’ll press up 500 copies and sell 35”, which is what had happened with all the other bands I’d been in. The first time we played the whole song in the rehearsal room, I joked: “This would sound really good on the radio.” But I was thinking of a session on John Peel or something – if we were lucky. We thought it would be funny to spoof the sounds you got on Queen records or the beginning of Eye of the Tiger. The short staccato bursts of sound – where you hit a cymbal and hold it to stop it resonating – came about because Bob Hardy, our bass-player, had read an article about “sports rock”, the music played at sports games in the US. The tempo of the chorus was much slower than the verse, so I suggested playing all the verses at the beginning, but slower, then the choruses. The “I know I won’t be leaving here with you” section formed a bridge between the verse and chorus, but when we rehearsed it with the band, it didn’t sound right. ![]() |
